The Tennis Coalition San Francisco
Love Tennis. Love ALL.
The mission of the Tennis Coalition SF is to champion public tennis in San Francisco by connecting, energizing, and advocating for the tennis playing community.
The Tennis Coalition SF was launched to strengthen public tennis in San Francisco with its signature project: the Campaign for Golden Gate Park Tennis Center. In partnership with SF Rec & Park and the SF Parks Alliance, they succeeded in raising $27 million to build a beautiful, state-of-the-art public tennis center that is accessible and affordable to all.
At the Goldman Tennis Center (GTC), the Tennis Coalition SF is focused on three major areas:
- Successfully launching the GTC as the hub of public tennis in San Francisco
- Spotlighting youth tennis at the GTC
- Stewarding and protecting public tennis in San Francisco
The Tennis Coalition SF partners with Lifetime Activities and SF Rec & Park to create community through competitive, recreational, and social events.

They oversee the Tennis Center Advisory Committee (TCAC), the voice of all users at the Goldman Tennis Center. They also meet regularly with SF Rec & Park and civic leaders to represent and advocate for the SF tennis-playing community.

A continued focus for the Tennis Coalition SF is supporting youth development — on the court and off. They are the community partner for SF Rec & Park’s Tennis & Learning Center (TLC) program, which pairs tennis lessons with tutoring for students from underserved communities in San Francisco. With the opening of the Goldman Tennis Center, students who advance from TLC’s elementary school program can now come to Golden Gate Park as middle schoolers.
